In August 2023, Specialist Occupational Therapist Lee received funding from SHINE to run a summer festival for patients and carers at St George’s Park.

Lots of staff from across the site got involved and it was a great day filled with music and fun activities including jewellery making, giant lawn games, hook a duck, face painting, sports games and more. There were a number of health and wellbeing stalls which provided a great opportunity for patients and carers to find out more about different initiatives and offers.

“G Fest fostered a renewed sense of community and belonging, bolstering the participants’ self-esteem and promoting social interactions. It allowed carers to be part of the event and see for themselves the different types of activities and support that is happening in the hospital and local community,” – Lee Samuel, Specialist Occupational Therapist.

The festival was made possible through funding from the Trust’s SHINE charity. Lee submitted a bid which was successful and received a budget to fund everything needed for the event.
