Gemma Sage, an acute carer lead wanted to provide a comfortable and relaxing room where families can enjoy quality time together in a different location away from the ward.
Gemma decided to host a festive bake sale where £300 was raised and donated to SHINE. The money was able to go towards various items such as a kettle, table, chairs and soft furnishings such as cushions and wall art to make the room feel less clinical.
"The aim was to make the room look and feel homely, so that people can relax in an environment away from the ward and provides an area where family meetings can take place with professionals."

The room is also child friendly, and the funding aims to enable children to feel safe and occupied with games, colouring and books to read.
Gemma also received donated items from staff to go towards the improvement of the family room.
